The Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel
Mark and I had the pleasure of spending a couple days in Portland back in December, just after a big snowfall in the Pacific Northwest.
There are a lot of great hotels in the area, and it took us a few beats to finally decide on the Kimpton RiverPlace. Well, it was between this and a tiny Airbnb, but Mark was craving the creature comforts you’d find in traditional hotel (namely, room service cause we like to eat).
The hotel is right along the banks of the Willamette River, a 20 minute walk from the heart of downtown Portland. It has a boutique feel, with large rooms, river views, and rustic decor. It’s also steps from the docks of the river, offering some gorgeous sunrise views…

I didn’t get too many pictures of the room (far too busy frollicking in the snow!) but it came with all the basics: comfy king bed, sitting area, desk, and spa bathroom. Best of all, it was H U G E.

3 Degrees Restaurant
We reserved our stay through the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts booking service, and one of the perks of doing so is that we got a few food vouchers when we checked in — 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner.
We redeemed them at the main restaurant in the hotel, 3 Degrees. We were expecting mediocre hotel food (especially since it was $free.99) but the food quality was major foodie status.

There’s a walkable path leading from the hotel to the many bridges along the Willamette River; it’s the perfect way to take in the beauty of the area, only steps from the cozy comforts of the hotel.

If you’re ever in the Portland area, give the Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel a looksie. I promise it’s worth your time.
xx,
K
