Our last morning in WDW

After spending the previous night at Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, we packed up our suitcases, checked out of the Grand Floridian Hotel, dropped our luggage at the bell desk, and made our way over to Hollywood Studios. Our flight back to Los Angeles wasn’t until late afternoon, so we had a couple hours to play.

Hollywood Studios was the only park we’d yet to visit on this short WDW trip, so off we went.

Star Wars has been a centerpiece of Hollywood Studios for a while now. We saw a ridiculously impressive Star Wars themed fireworks show when we visited a couple years ago, and now they have Storm Troopers doing hourly patrols on the streets.

They also just announced that Star Wars Land will be coming to both Disneyland and Disney World (@ Hollywood Studios) in 2019. Milk that franchise, Disney!

This was mid-December, but “winter” in Florida is still synonymous with heat, humidity, and ice cream.

We got to see some of the concept art for the new Toy Story Land they’re building as an extension to the Pixar area of the park. It reminds me of the Pixar Playland that they have at Disneyland Paris, only on a much more expansive scale. There’s no word on when exactly it’ll be open to the public, but I’m sure we’ll be back once it does.

It was a brief trip to Walt Disney World, but quick doesn’t mean crummy. We had a grand ‘ole time in the Florida sunshine, and though it wasn’t anywhere near as phenomenal as Tokyo Disney had been, it was definitely a hoot ‘n a half.
