Paradise

Well, I’m back in Copes after almost a month back home in LA.

I only have a couple more weeks in Denmark before I move back permanently to California, and I’m definitely feeling the bittersweet sadness. Especially now that Copenhagen is alive with warmth and sunshine.

Sunset

First of all, can we talk about these sunsets?

These all happened on various nights, well into 10PM hour. The Scandinavian summer is amazing.

Ok, enough summer skies.

It has been HOT HOT HOT lately.

As such, the city has really started buzzing with tourists and locals alike.

Peonies are finally in season!

Strawbies

And strawberries!

Succulents

And…do succulents really have a season? Or are they just rocking the awesomeness year round?

Fishies

The onset of summer means ALL THE FISH.

Rose

And rose, all day…

With friends. ❤

Distortion

This last Wednesday and Thursday, Copenhagen did its part to usher in the summer with its annual street bash, Distortion.

Basically, they block off the roads, and everyone comes out to enjoy the live music, dancing, glitter, confetti, Carlsberg, food, etc.

Fun fact: Open container laws do not exist in Denmark. That, combined with the mostly crap weather, means people get reeeeeally excited when summertime finally comes around.

The kind of exited that inspires fabulous life choices. Like this lady, who decided it was a good idea to dance on her windowsill. (Don’t worry, she was dragged back inside by smarter friends.)

Distortion Donor Kebab

I enjoyed the sights, silliness with friends, and this surprisingly delicious falafel donor kebab.

And did a whole lot of fascinating people-watching.

By the time the confetti made its appearance, I’d had my fill of fun (aka, I really had to pee and there were no public restrooms ANYWHERE).

Distortion sunrise

But then, of course, my jetlag kept me up until almost sunrise. (Which, I might add, is around 3:30AM during the Scandinavian summer – holymoly!)
