There’s no place like home for the holidays.

Especially when home = California sun, surf, and sand. Blessed be, that Vitamin D. How I missed you. Now that I’ve moved away, I realize I’ve absolutely taken this place for granted. For one thing, Copenhagen has made me realize just how magical blue skies are. And 60+ degrees in December. And sunset later than 3:30pm…

The Roundhouse at the end of the pier is actually a tiny nonprofit aquarium filled with eels and starfish and anemones (man, I love that word). Fun fact: I used to volunteer here in high school. Us lowly teens were tasked with cleaning tanks and taking dirty rags to the laundry mat up the road. All in the name of beefing up that college application!
